Novice Competitors


Novice Events:  Both compulsory dances, the European Waltz and the Paso Doble, are skated on the first day of competition (Sunday, January 21). The next day, all skaters perform a free dance to music and rhythms of their own choosing. Highest combined point total wins.  

Junior Events:  Both compulsory dances, the Silver Samba and the Midnight Blues, are skated on the first day of competition (Monday, January 22). The next day, the original dance is competed. This season's rhythm is the Tango. The skaters are free to choose their own music and elements, as long as they use a Tango. The competition concludes on Wednesday with the free dance, skated to music and rhythms of their own choosing. Highest combined point total wins.  

Senior Events: Seniors perform only one compulsory dance, the Golden Waltz, on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 23. That evening, they then compete the Tango original dance. The skaters are free to choose their own music and elements, as long as they use a Tango. After a day off, the competition concludes on Friday with the free dance skated to music and rhythms of their own choosing. Highest combined point total wins.
