Samuelson skated with Evan Bates for the last decade, winning the 2008 World Junior title and representing the U.S. at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Samuelson & Bates won U.S. national titles at the intermediate, novice and junior levels and won several U.S. national medals at the senior level.
Gilles skated previously with Trina Pratt and Jane Summersett. Pratt & Gilles won the novice and junior U.S. titles. Summersett & Gilles won the bronze medal at the 2008 Nebelhorn Trophy and finished as high as sixth at the U.S. championships.
