Started skating: Chantal started skating at age 9. Her parents had put her into various sports (swimming, ballet, gymnastics, etc.). After one of her swimming lessons, Chantal went to watch the skaters in the rink nearby. She begged her mom to let her try skating. When she was 10 1/2, she had to decide between skating and swimming - skating won out.

The past: Before teaming with Arseniy, Chantal skated with Michel Brunet and Justin Lanning. She competed at the 1998 Olympics (with Brunet) as well as several World Championships. They were the silver medallists at Canadian Nationals four times.

Started skating: Arseniy started skating when his grandmother took him to the rink. He was a singles skater until he was eleven years old and trained with Igor Rusakov. He switched to ice dancing after he had grown too tall for singles.

The past: Arseniy skated with Svetlana Kulikova (representing Russia) until winter 2002. They competed twice at the World Junior Championships finishing as high as sixth. Their final competition was Russian Nationals in December 2002, where they won the silver medal.
