2016 JGP Cup of Mordovia Blog #3

Privet!!

Today was our short dance competition. Anthony and I skated a good program. It could have been better, we left out some points in the Blues and in the twizzles but we’re very happy with our marks.

16jgpcom-cc-blog3_4542Today was also a very special day because Anthony’s grandmother traveled for 26 hours by train to come see us in Saransk. I was a little nervous knowing she was watching us live, afterall her daughter is among the best ice dancers of all time, so I didn’t want to disappoint her.

After the competition, we went to the draw.  Once again, we will be the last one to skate! Then we all went to my moms hotel and had dinner. The food was amazing.  It was a nice change from the bars, the nuts and dry fruit Anthony and I have been having since we got here.

After dinner, we all headed to watch the men events. That was some great skating! The rink was almost full which is nice considering that sometimes at JGP, the stands are empty. The Russian crowd was great, they were cheering for everyone. Our team USA guys skated well.  Andrew is in 3rd place, he skated a beautiful program to Notre Dame de Paris, and Eric is in 6th place he did a great job too. It was a strong field!

Once the competition was over, we all went back to our hotel. We need to catch up on sleep.  Seriously, I haven’t had a normal night of sleep since last Saturday. Tomorrow, we only have one practice in the middle of the afternoon. If the weather is nice we will go for a walk in the park and in downtown Saransk.

Good night everyone!
