They broke ties with longtime coach Marina Zoueva after the Olympic Games in 2014, and last year, they moved to Montréal to work with the Dubreuil & Lauzon coaching team. They set a new world and Canadian record score at the Grand Prix Final last month. Virtue & Moir began skating together in October 1997, making them the longest-running competitive partnership in Canada. They are the first Canadian ice dancers to win the Olympic title and the second to win the World title. They have national titles at every level except novice, including six senior titles, and they are one of two Canadian dance teams to have won national titles at four different levels. In addition, they have now won every major ISU championship available to North Americans — Olympic, World (twice), Four Continents (twice), and Grand Prix Final.

Weaver broke her ankle in December 2012, which forced the team to withdraw from the 2013 Canadian Championships. The injury was initially assumed to be season-ending, but Weaver’s tenacity saw the team back on the ice in time to train for the 2013 World Championships, where they finished fifth with two inspired performances. In April 2013, Weaver underwent more surgery to have the hardware removed from her ankle. Weaver & Poje are 2014 Olympians, two-time Grand Prix Final champions (2015 & 2016) and two-time world medalists (silver in 2014, bronze in 2015).
