The short dance wrapped up the first day of competition at the 2010 Trophee Eric Bompard, the final stop on the ISU Grand Prix Series. As expected, Nathalie Pechalat & Fabian Bourzat of France took first place on home ice with a score of 65.48. Russians Ekaterina Riazanova & Ilia Tkachenko grabbed second with 60.81, while Americans Madison Chock & Greg Zuerlein stand third with 58.09.<\/p>\n
The eight teams skated clean program after clean program, and not one of them incorporated a tango as their secondary rhythm to the Golden Waltz. The only mandatory deduction came on an extended lift from the Hungarians, Dora Turoczi & Balazs Major, who are in eighth with 41.27. The couple also received two -2 GOE — the only -2s throughout the event.<\/p>\n
Three teams did not receive any GOE less than base zero: Pechalat & Bourzat, Riazanova & Tkachenko, and France’s Pernelle Carron & Lloyd Jones, who placed fourth with 53.36. Isabella Cannuscio & Ian Lorello of the U.S., who are in fifth with 52.19, were one of three teams who earned level 4 on both sections of the Golden Waltz. (Chock & Zuerlein and Pechalat & Bourzat are the other two.) Coming close with level 3 on the second portion and level 4 on the latter-skated first portion are Canadians Kharis Ralph & Asher Hill, who stand sixth with 50.50.<\/p>\n
Xintong Huang & Xun Zheng of China scored 49.55 to place seventh in Paris. At Cup of China, they earned .15 more and were fifth there.<\/p>\n
