{"id":3283,"date":"2015-08-23T02:44:22","date_gmt":"2015-08-23T02:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ice-dance.com\/site\/2015\/08\/23\/idi-to-host-sun-valley-residency-from-september-1-13\/"},"modified":"2015-08-23T02:44:22","modified_gmt":"2015-08-23T02:44:22","slug":"idi-to-host-sun-valley-residency-from-september-1-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ice-dance.com\/site\/idi-to-host-sun-valley-residency-from-september-1-13\/","title":{"rendered":"IDI to host Sun Valley Residency from September 1-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.icedanceinternational.org\/\">Ice Dance International<\/a> (IDI) will host it&#8217;s residency in Sun Valley, Idaho, from September 1-13.&nbsp; US Champion Ryan Bradley, Olympian Beata Handra, US Bronze Medallists Kim Navarro and Brent Bommentre, US medalist Erin Reed, and National Competitor Joel Dear will be the inaugural company.&nbsp; IDI&#8217;s mission is to create classical and contemporary ice ballet with a professional company. IDI serves to educate and inspire by providing mentorship, creative opportunities, collaboration, teaching, outreach and performance.<\/p>\n<p>Three new works will be created in Sun Valley. International ballet star and founding artistic director of Miami City Ballet, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.icedanceinternational.org\/staff-bios.html\">Edward Villella<\/a>, will create one new piece of repertory building on an existing Artie Shaw work. The piece will be called \u201cStardust\u201d and includes the entire cast. IDI\u2019s Founding Artistic Director, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.icedanceinternational.org\/staff-bios.html\">Douglas Webster<\/a>, will create 2 new works for the company. One will be to Chopin\u2019s \u201cNocturne\u2019s\u201d with the title of Nocturnes and the other is a contemporary piece.<\/p>\n<p>IDI\u2019s goal is to establish photos and videos of the rep of the work to develop its on line presence. It is also gearing up for a winter tour in New England to show the work and teach workshops, collaborating with university dance departments, skating clubs, and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Douglas Webster is also working simultaneously as Creative Director for Disson Skating\u2019s \u201cShall We Dance on Ice,\u201d and IDI will have a presence at the International Figures Festival in Lake Placid, NY August 25-29 where Douglas will be teaching \u201cFlow\u201d classes and clinics called \u201cPainting a Canvas\u201d.&nbsp; IDI\u2019s advisor to development and Canadian Figure Skating Champion, Linda Villella, will be judging.
