Matt Kleffman (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cSmooth\u201d<br \/>Skated in the U.S. last year, but plan to compete in Canada this year.\u00a0 Good speed through the midline, nice expression from both.\u00a0 Not the most difficult program, but skated well.\u00a0 38.14, 8th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abby Carswell &amp; Simon Tanguay (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cFalling Star\u201d<br \/>Opened with the Cha Cha pattern, looked strong.\u00a0 Nice elements, program seemed well-trained.\u00a0 Softer feel overall, accentuated by her fluffy peach dress.\u00a0 43.44, 4th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauri Bonacorsi &amp; Travis Mager\u2028\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chilly Cha Cha\u201d &amp; \u201cBesame Mucho\u201d <br \/>Lots of steam in the opening, great Latin hip action.\u00a0 Big Cha Cha pattern, and the rest of the elements were quite strong as well.\u00a0 Really seemed to feel the music.\u00a0 They look ready for the JGP.\u00a0 48.71, 1st (2nd in TES, 1st in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Madeline Heritage &amp; Nathaniel Fast<\/strong><br \/>\u201cTo Make You Feel My Love\u201d &amp; \u201cRolling in the Deep\u201d with a Latin beat<br \/>Interesting music choice for a Latin program, but it works with the beat!\u00a0 Much more mature look this year, seem more confident overall.\u00a0 Unfortunate fall, but they didn\u2019t seem to let the mistake affect them and kept pushing through the program.\u00a0 Great job, aside from the mistake.\u00a0 42.03, 5th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ramona Wright &amp; Nicholas Taylor<\/strong><br \/>New team, and she\u2019s moved up quickly\u2014was intermediate just 2 seasons ago.\u00a0 Music seemed a bit fast for them, and they had a rough skate.\u00a0 26.66, 13th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Parsons &amp; Michael Parsons<\/strong><br \/>She has come back quickly from an injury, but the program seemed ready and stamina was not an issue.\u00a0 Nice job!\u00a0 Strong showing at the junior level for last year\u2019s novice champions.\u00a0 Would love to see them add more sassy flavor to the program as the season progresses.\u00a0 41.89, 6th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victoria Hasegawa &amp; Connor Hasegawa (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cCha Cha Cha d\u2019Amour\u201d &#8211; Dean Martin<br \/>He\u2019s wearing goofy glasses for this humorous take on the Latin rhythm.\u00a0 Cha cha pattern was excellent, and the elements were strong.\u00a0 His nerdy character is a bit of a risk\u2014could be interpreted as sloppy in some places.\u00a0 Good choice for them, overall.\u00a0 Concept is similar to last year\u2019s short dance interpretation.\u00a0 48.51, close 2nd (1st in TES, 2nd in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Coward &amp; Avidan Brown (GBR)<\/strong><br \/>New team, not much of a height difference.\u00a0 Still working through the partnering, and had some trouble on the midline, but showed some good attack.\u00a0 Connection needs to develop more during the season.\u00a0 37.09, 9th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaitlin Hawayek &amp; Michael Bramante<\/strong><br \/>\u201cSway\u201d + \u201cTequila\u201d<br \/>Wow, what a statement in their move up to junior!\u00a0 Absolutely look ready to take on this level.\u00a0 Great smiles, solid skating, looked like they were having a great time.\u00a0 46.50, 3rd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenna Dzierzanowski &amp; Vinny Dispenza<\/strong><br \/>Santana\/slow Latin<br \/>Need more connection between them and commitment to the rhythm, overall.\u00a0 Not their best skate this time.\u00a0 31.83, 12th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laurence Fournier-Beaudry &amp; Yoan Breton (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cRitmo de Bom Bom\u201d<br \/>She is wearing a huge feather on the top of her head.\u00a0 Really, a HUGE feather.\u00a0 Program has some jungle flair to it, I guess?\u00a0 Overall, the program was skated very precisely, but quite slowly.\u00a0 They had wonderful attack last season, and look like they\u2019re not quite there yet this season.\u00a0 Great lifts, though.\u00a0 40.30, 7th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Clarke &amp; Steven Clarke (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cHonkytonk in Mexico\u201d<br \/>New look and new coaches this year.\u00a0 She\u2019s now platinum blonde and he\u2019s gone darker.\u00a0 New coaches are Allie Hann-McCurdy &amp; Michael Coreno.\u00a0 Some improvements to their skating are starting to show, but they still need to work on generating more speed and attacking the elements.\u00a0 Looked like they were enjoying themselves.\u00a0 32.73, 11th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mari\u00e8ve Cyr &amp; Benjamin Brisebois (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>Brisebois, especially, has the posture and attitude of a Latin dancer on the ice.\u00a0 Good skating, but it seems like they must have had some trouble with the levels.\u00a0 They can definitely make this program spicier.\u00a0 35.15, 10th.<\/p>\n<h3>Group B<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Elliana Pogrebinsky &amp; Ross Gudis<\/strong><br \/>Nice expression and good musicality.\u00a0 Smooth skating, but an unfortunate tumble on the twizzles really hurt their score.\u00a0 32.80, 12th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danielle Gamelin &amp; Alex Gamelin<\/strong><br \/>Foot down on the twizzles will affect their level.\u00a0 Fun Latin program overall, both move so well and really feel the music. Sassy and energetic.\u00a0 42.59, 6th (4th in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mackenzie Reid &amp; Joseph Johnson<\/strong><br \/>Johnson has jumped to junior from the intermediate level in this new partnership.\u00a0 Not much connection between them, and seems like they are still gelling as a team.\u00a0 31.69, 14th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cortney Mansour &amp; Daryn Zhunussov (KAZ)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cPerhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps\u201d<br \/>Some little stumbles, including during the Cha Cha Congelado pattern.\u00a0 Not too polished overall, but they have potential.\u00a0 Is it a rule that dance teams representing Kazakhstan have to be little firecrackers?\u00a0 This is another one!\u00a0 36.51, 10th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andr\u00e9anne Poulin &amp; Marc-Andr\u00e9 Servant (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cSittin\u2019 on the Dock of the Bay\u201d + Samba<br \/>Interesting take on the rhythm, feels quite refreshing after a whole group of Latin programs already!\u00a0 Congelado pattern looked very strong, seemed confident and prepared.\u00a0 Nice job on twizzles, which has been the team\u2019s weakness in past seasons!\u00a0 44.22, close 4th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9lisabeth Paradis &amp; Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Ouellette (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cBlack Magic Woman\u201d<br \/>Good ice coverage and strong steps on the Congelado pattern.\u00a0 Minor mistakes on some of the elements, but they have a good base to build from.\u00a0 Nice choreography, suits them well.\u00a0 41.47, 7th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danielle Calthorpe &amp; Paul Dredge (GBR)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cI Like It Like That\u201d<br \/>New partnership.\u00a0 Twizzles were a rough spot, and they didn\u2019t look quite together in the pattern\u2014some pushing and pulling going on.\u00a0 Nice spark to their program.\u00a0 32.24, 13th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorraine McNamara &amp; Quinn Carpenter<\/strong><br \/>\u201cSwish\u201d (?)<br \/>Very cute program that suited them well, and then did all of their elements beautifully, too.\u00a0 Very enjoyable overall.\u00a0 Hard to believe they are not JGP-eligible yet.\u00a0 45.34, 2nd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josyane Cholette &amp; Simon Proulx-S\u00e9n\u00e9cal (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cI Like It Like that\u201d<br \/>Lots of teams \u201clike it like that\u201d this year! Very mature, sensual presentation from this team.\u00a0 Pattern could have been sharper and need more speed through the footwork, but the dance was fun too watch.\u00a0 36.47, 11th (7th in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jessica Mancini &amp; Tyler Brooks<\/strong><br \/>Her one-pant-leg costume was a little odd, but it did show off her extension because it drew the eye to her leg.\u00a0 On that note, it also made the moments when their legs did not match more exposed, too.\u00a0 Nice job with the pattern.\u00a0 44.42, 3rd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vanessa Wade &amp; JoeBen Wilson<\/strong><br \/>\u201cDance with Me\u201d<br \/>Problems on the twizzles, and the pattern seemed slow&#8230;wondering if it was an ice coverage issue, or if the tempo of the music was actually too slow.\u00a0 She, especially, looked like she was having a great time.\u00a0 24.13, 15th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexandra Aldridge &amp; Daniel Eaton<\/strong><br \/>\u201cI Need to Know\u201d<br \/>Class of the field, even with an error on the twizzles.\u00a0 Strong program, great commitment to the choreography, really connected to each other.\u00a0 Absolutely ready to take on the juniors of the world.\u00a0 52.74.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danvi Pham &amp; Vu Pham<\/strong><br \/>The Phams are back in competition this season after skipping Nationals last year, and they are with different coaches now.\u00a0 The change seems to have worked for them.\u00a0 Program was youthful and fun, and they did well.\u00a0 42.76, 5th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cassandra Jeandell &amp; Damian Dodge<\/strong><br \/>\u201cSway\u201d + \u201cLet\u2019s Get Loud\u201d<br \/>A few minor problems, but solid outing overall.\u00a0 Some of their presentation comes off as over-rehearsed, would love to see them relax and feel the music a bit more to take their skating to the next level.\u00a0 They keep improving every year.\u00a0 39.62, 8th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amanda Bertsch &amp; Sam Kaplun<\/strong><br \/>They have really grown as a team since last year, very well-matched.\u00a0 She had a fall near the end of the footwork, which seemed to stun them a bit.\u00a0 Quite a shame, as they were doing so well until then.\u00a0 38.27, 9th.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Free Dance<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3>Group A<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Abby Carswell &amp; Simon Tanguay (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>Cinema Paradiso (I think?\u00a0 Forgot to write it down.)<br \/>They look great together.\u00a0 He missed last season, this is his first season on the junior level.\u00a0 She has a lot more experience, but they mesh well in this lyrical program.\u00a0 A few mistakes showed the newness of the partnership, including a fall on the circular footwork and a struggle through the twizzles.\u00a0 Strong lifts.\u00a0 43.77, 12th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victoria Hasegawa &amp; Connor Hasegawa (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>Black Swan<br \/>Nice start with this program.\u00a0 They are very graceful and do a great job of bringing ballet to the ice, but they have an opportunity to bring more to this program by portraying the characters more dramatically.\u00a0 They\u2019ve shown that they can do characters in the short dance; now they can bring it to the free dance.\u00a0 No major\/noticeable mistakes, but the score seems low (and is lower than what Skate Canada wants from its JGP skaters), so possible level issues.\u00a0 54.98, 8th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Parsons &amp; Michael Parsons<\/strong><br \/>Got through twizzles well, and had just a small bobble in the circular footwork.\u00a0 Some rough moments in the transitions, but a good start overall, especially considering that she had time off the ice this summer.\u00a0 Program has moments of drama and nice lifts; they seem more comfortable in this area than in the Latin rhythm of the short dance.\u00a0 61.45, 5th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauri Bonacorsi &amp; Travis Mager<\/strong><br \/>\u201cClose to You\u201d &#8211; Sandra &amp; Tony Alessi<br \/>The program is the dramatic, lyrical program that you expect from super-white costumes. Their free dance last year was fun and humorous, but they seem most comfortable with drama.\u00a0 Twizzles were solid, lifts were nice, overall presentation was lovely.\u00a0 It was a bit cautious, but the score still seems a bit low, so they probably have some levels to address before the JGP, but overall, they look ready to be one of the leaders of Team USA on the junior level.\u00a0 63.78, 3rd (5th in TES, 2nd in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Madeline Heritage &amp; Nathaniel Fast<\/strong><br \/>\u201cMr. Pinstripe Suit\u201d + \u201cMinnie the Moocher\u201d<br \/>Right off the bat, they created a lot of excitement with this fun program.\u00a0 Her swirly polka dot dress had the IDC photographers swooning.\u00a0 They had some rough moments, particularly a fall in the twizzle sequence and they really had to push through the spin, but the program has the potential to be a big hit by the end of the season.\u00a0 They are a versatile team, and the connection between the two of them is fantastic.\u00a0 You can tell that they have been partners for a long time.\u00a0 Her scrunchie flew off her ponytail in the last 5 seconds, so they did incur a costume deduction.\u00a0 51.34, 10th (6th in PCS).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mari\u00e8ve Cyr &amp; Benjamin Brisebois<\/strong><br \/>Twilight<br \/>The resident Twilight fans have interpreted that they are portraying Edward and Bella.\u00a0 Their twizzle level was reduced for touching a foot down, but aside from that mistake, the program was full of lovely moments, including an impressive straightline lift.\u00a0 Concept for the program is very good; it just needs a few more outings and some time to develop.\u00a0 51.53, 9th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amanda Bertsch &amp; Sam Kaplun<\/strong><br \/>This team has really gelled after a year together!\u00a0 Solid lifts overall, including a great hydroblading one.\u00a0 No hesitation in their choreography, pleasant presentation, and skated quite well overall.\u00a0 They missed qualifying for Nationals last season by 12 tenths of a point, and it is fantastic to see that they stuck things out and have progressed so well.\u00a0 60.39, 6th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alicia Fortin &amp; Matt Kleffman (now competing for CAN)<\/strong><br \/>Mojo Boogie<br \/>Program didn\u2019t seem secure\u2014they had quite a few small mistakes throughout, including on a footwork sequence, and then both fell on a transition between elements.\u00a0 Tough skate, technically, but they pushed through it.\u00a0 Looking forward to seeing this program again on a better day.\u00a0 Like Bertsch &amp; Kaplun, Fortin &amp; Kleffman also narrowly missed making Nationals last year in a tough junior field at Pacific Coast Sectionals.\u00a0 Glad both teams are back this season.\u00a0 47.28, 11th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaitlin Hawayek &amp; Michael Bramante<\/strong><br \/>Allegria<br \/>Very polished overall, just like their short dance.\u00a0 This team looks prepared and quite determined!\u00a0 As they look ahead to the next competition, we\u2019d love to see more speed through the final footwork sequence, with a big push right through the end of the program.\u00a0 For a first time out, though, this was a fantastic skate.\u00a0 64.77, 2nd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Musselwhite &amp; Christian Wilson<\/strong><br \/>Tango<br \/>More speed needed throughout, as well as a better connection to each other and to the music.\u00a0 35.23, 16th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorraine McNamara &amp; Quinn Carpenter<\/strong><br \/>Techno version of \u201cFour Seasons\u201d<br \/>Wow, they have made big improvements to their speed and power, even though they are still among the smallest competitors in the field!\u00a0 Great ice coverage.\u00a0 Strong elements, solid twizzles, good lifts.\u00a0 Beautiful skate.\u00a0 High score is well-deserved.\u00a0 They could really make a splash next year on the JGP if they continue to improve like this!\u00a0 67.97, 1st.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ramona Wright &amp; Nicholas Taylor<\/strong><br \/>Carmen<br \/>Missed blade on the twizzles, so will not receive level four.\u00a0 Not quite in sync and need to work on matching their lines as they work through the beginning stages of this partnership.\u00a0 Overall, nice character and some good moments.\u00a0 Bounced back well after the short dance.\u00a0 40.17, 14th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenna Dzierzanowski &amp; Vinny Dispenza<\/strong><br \/>Again, much better outing than the short dance.\u00a0 Looked like they were having a lot of fun with this dance-y program.\u00a0 Some weak moments throughout the elements, but a solid performance.\u00a0 43.72, 13th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laurence Fournier-Beaudry &amp; Yoan Breton<\/strong><br \/>\u201cBe Italian\u201d<br \/>Tons of character, drama, and passion in this program.\u00a0 The music suits their style well.\u00a0 They look so \u201cFrench\u201d on the ice, and I mean that in a great way!\u00a0 They have upgraded their lifts since last year and did a great job with them.\u00a0 Only noticeable mistake was a late blade catch on the twizzles.\u00a0 62.59, 4th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Clarke &amp; Steven Clarke<\/strong><br \/>Some definite improvements since last season are present.\u00a0 Her posture is better, and although it still has room to improve even more, it is clear that they have been working hard.\u00a0 Good commitment to the choreography.\u00a0 Some rough moments, but they should be able to smooth those out with a bit more time.\u00a0 39.99, 15th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Coward &amp; Avidan Brown<\/strong><br \/>Kill Bill<br \/>This program revealed some weaknesses of the new partnership as they were sometimes out of sync with each other and lost some speed through difficult elements, but it also had some strong moments.\u00a0 The twizzles were done well, and the program was fun.\u00a0 55.98, 7th.<\/p>\n<h3>Group B<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Andr\u00e9anne Poulin &amp; Marc-Andr\u00e9 Servant (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cPassion Nomad\u201d (Spanish)<br \/>They definitely bring a passionate character to this dance!\u00a0 Good attack and strong skating.\u00a0 Great connection between them, as always.\u00a0 Unfortunately, her blade caught caught in her dress (big flamenco skirt) on the first twizzle, and she didn\u2019t fall, but was unable to do the second set of twizzles in the sequence.\u00a0 Hurt their score, but not the rest of the performance.\u00a0 Great first outing, but in the future, would love to see even more fierceness and attack from them.\u00a0 60.27, 3rd (4th in TES, 2nd in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexandra Aldridge &amp; Daniel Eaton<\/strong><br \/>Lord of the Dance<br \/>Well, they really knocked this one out of the park!\u00a0 So strong through the elements, and the emotion and performance was spot on.\u00a0 They were clearly having a great time out there, and the audience enjoyed being along the ride.\u00a0 Fantastic skate!\u00a0 71.07, 1st.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danielle Gamelin &amp; Alex Gamelin<\/strong><br \/>\u201cCzardas\u201d<br \/>Great performance level in this dance, too.\u00a0 Three in a row!\u00a0 Fabulous costumes, and the style works so well on them.\u00a0 She took a tumble on the twizzles and a few spots in the program looked a bit new, but they pushed through it and kept selling the choreography.\u00a0 54.65, 6th (4th in PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elliana Pogrebinsky &amp; Ross Gudis<\/strong><br \/>Nice job on the twizzles after a rough go in the short dance.\u00a0 Great lifts, seem like they trust each other and have a solid partnership.\u00a0 Great skate, especially for early in their first junior season.\u00a0 56.83, 5th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jessica Mancini &amp; Tyler Brooks<\/strong><br \/>Not as strong as in the short dance, unfortunately.\u00a0 Seemed a little more cautious overall, and a few minor mistakes started to add up, like a slip in the circular footwork and a unison break in the twizzles.\u00a0 Can definitely build from this, though.\u00a0 52.59, 7th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9lisabeth Paradis &amp; Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Ouellette (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>Elvis Presley medley<br \/>Freak fall on the spin was a tough mistake, and fairly costly.\u00a0 They recovered well, though, and got right back into the program.\u00a0 It seems like they really enjoy this dance and are having fun skating together.\u00a0 Very enjoyable to watch, aside from the mistake.\u00a0 Great lifts, as usual!\u00a0 47.03, 9th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josyane Cholette &amp; Simon Proulx-S\u00e9n\u00e9cal (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cRolling in the Deep\u201d + \u201cDon\u2019t Stop \u2018Til You Get Enough\u201d<br \/>Kind of a random mash-up of songs, but both are great, so it was fun!\u00a0 Some struggles on the twizzle and the spin, but they sold the program well.\u00a0 Nice lifts.\u00a0 Can definitely build on this during the season.\u00a0 47.76, 8th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cagla Demirsal &amp; Berk Akalin\u00a0 (TUR)<\/strong><br \/>Kind of a mix-up when they started&#8230;it seemed like they weren\u2019t quite sure of the order.\u00a0 Adorable team!\u00a0 Small and smiley. They train in Lake Placid in the summer with Natalia Dubova and Oleg Voiko, so this was like home ice for them.\u00a0\u00a0 Touched down early on the twizzles, but overall, fun to watch.\u00a0 44.76, 10th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danvi Pham &amp; Vu Pham<\/strong><br \/>Another extremely solid program from the Pham siblings!\u00a0 They are definitely back.\u00a0 Spin was really done well, nice job on the twizzles.\u00a0 They\u2019ve done a lot of dramatic programs in the past, so it\u2019s been nice to see a lighter side this season.\u00a0 60.89, 2nd (3rd in TES and PCS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danielle Calthorpe &amp; Paul Dredge (GBR)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cFeeling Good\u201d (muzak)<br \/>Were a little too close for comfort on twizzles with leg extended, but got through them well.\u00a0 Partnership is still building, would love to see more power and a better connection from them as the season progresses, but this was a respectable beginning.\u00a0 41.26, 11th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catherine Culhane &amp; Simon Mondor (CAN)<\/strong><br \/>\u201cLove Hurts\u201d + \u201cI Love Rock-n-Roll\u201d<br \/>Shaky moments during the circular footwork, and he touched down early on the twizzles.\u00a0 Some good moments, though, including nice choreographic highlights and nice line-matching on some of the footwork.\u00a0 Good use of the whole ice.\u00a0 They are a brand-new team, and need to relax and have more fun with the second half.\u00a0 37.29, 12th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cassandra Jeandell &amp;
