2025 German National Championships
Obertsdorf, Germany
Following the German Championships in Oberstdorf, the German Ice Skating Union (DEU) invites skaters and coaches to open “Pair Skating/Ice Dance Tryout Days” and a coaching workshop on December 14, 2025, at the Oberstdorf National Training Center. The event will be led by Dmitry Savin and Stefano Caruso.
The aim of the tryout days is to inspire interested skaters and coaches to pursue pair skating and ice dance, and to form new pairs. All skaters interested in pair skating and/or ice dance and wishing to try these disciplines are eligible to participate.
Prior experience in these disciplines is desirable but not a requirement. Proof of achieving Level 4 in the free skating program is required. For competitive coaches, the workshop will be credited as one in-person module (4 units) towards license renewal. Coaches will gain foundational knowledge in pair skating and ice dance.
The workshop will provide coaches with a solid foundation in the disciplines of pair skating and ice dance. The pairs skating coaching team consists of Dmitry Savin, international pairs skating coach and head coach of World Championship medalists Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin, and national junior coach Rico Rex. The ice dance coaching team comprises of national junior coach Stefano Caruso, Robynne Tweedale (junior ice dance coach in Berlin), and Hendrik Hilpert (Bavarian state ice dance coach). European pairs skating champions Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin and German bronze medalists Karla Maria Karl and Kai Hoferichter are also involved. The tryout consists of an on-ice and an off-ice session and concludes with a short feedback session.
