Lake Placid to host Ice Dance International during LPIDC

For over 80 years, competitors from the United States and beyond have traveled to Lake Placid, New York, for the annual Ice Dance Championships.  The summer event includes competitions for all levels from pre-juvenile to senior for teams as well as solo dancers. For the past 12 years, Team IDC has been in attendance.

Earlier this week, the organizers of the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships announced that in addition to offering the standard events, U.S. Figure Skating has given Lake Placid the opportunity to host an international event that offers junior and senior teams another opportunity to earn an ISU minimum score.  Entries for this event will be competing in the first Lake Placid Ice Dance International (LPIDI).

The Lake Placid Ice Dance International will be held during the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships and in addition to the standard competitions.  The junior and senior dance events will be separated into groups (i.e. Group A, B, etc.) with the international event as an additional, separate group.

A maximum of 15 entries will be accept for junior and senior ice dance teams.  Of the 15 entries for each level, no more than 7 junior ice dance teams and 7 senior ice dance teams will be accepted from United States applicants. For U.S. teams, preference will be given:

  • In the junior event, to teams placing in the top 10 in the junior ice dance event and top 5 in the novice ice dance event at the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships with current or former partner.
  • In the senior event, to teams placing in the top 10 in the senior ice dance event and top 5 in the junior ice dance event at the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships with current or former partner.

Preliminary entries must be submitted online by Tuesday, May 26, 2015, with final entries due no later than Thursday, June 25, 2015.  Entries and nominations must be made on the official online application forms:

Competitors will be notified by June 15th of final acceptance.
