Youth Olympics Blog #6 by Chloe Lewis

Today was the final day of practice before the FD!

We’re in 3rd going into the short, so practice was a little bit later and I got to sleep in until 7:30, so that was a major bonus.  Practice was very good, and straight afterwards I ran into the stands in costume and skates to watch Sarah and Joe’s free program. I made it just in time, and they had a really cool A Nightmare Before Christmas program and got a personal best!

After that we rushed home to eat a little before catching the bus to watch Camden, who also did really well. By the time we finally got back to the hotel with enough time to change it was already 5:30. The days are going by way too fast, but I’m excited to spend more time in Lillehammer after we are done competing and hang out with some of my new friends that I met at opening. I was pleasantly surprised to meet a snowboarder who lives in Michigan in the summers, 20 minutes from where I live along with someone who’s hoping to move to Michigan next year.  It would be so much fun to have friends that were made in Norway end up thousands of miles away with me in Michigan.

After eating dinner with Greg and Logan, we just hung out together, literally crying of laughter as usual before heading to the draw for the team event. Because the ladies and dance haven’t finished yet, they just drew the numbers for placement so whoever ends up in the numbers drawn will be in the team with the men and pairs they are set to be with. It was a very complicated process, so I can’t really explain how it works, but tomorrow we will see if we get to do the team event next Saturday.  One thing I can explain is that it’s mixed country, so for example there could be a Chinese pair team with an American lady, Japanese man, and Russian dancers all supporting each other as a team.

After the draw we got the Samsung phone that I’ll be using tomorrow to vlog our day.  To be honest I’m not 100% sure what T.V. station the vlog is for, but I’ll be taking photos and videos of our day tomorrow! I will keep you posted on where to find it when it’s edited and published, but I am very excited to do that, which will be mostly once we’re done competing, so that I can stay focused 🙂

We spoke to some other people from the U.S. team before heading up to our rooms for the night. It felt like a very packed and fun day, but now it seems so simple and too short. I am doing my best to savor every moment as I already feel it flying by way too quickly. The fact that there’s less than a week left actually makes me reaaaaaally sad… so I’ll try not to think about that and just enjoy it!

Thanks again for reading, goodnight!
