JGP Courchevel: Day One, Check!

Holly blog 1 photo 3--editDay one in Courchevel: check!

After a long couple days of travel (including a five-hour layover in Amsterdam and a three-hour bus ride zig-zagging up a seemingly endless trek up the mountain), we finally arrived to the sound of the rest of Team USA greeting us with flags and some yummy pizza. 🙂 Our team leader, Laurie, has set us up with some great USA gear!!

Walking downstairs this morning to breakfast, it truly hit me. Looking out the windows at the breathtaking mountains was like a dream!

We had our very first practice today, and it was so exciting! The rink is great, and a few minutes into our practice, we discovered it was quite warm too. (Thank god for a sleeveless dress!) Afterwards, we headed over to the draw to find out we are third to skate, and I finally met my roommate, Ashley. She got in at midnight the night before, and after a long day of travel, I was already passed out in my bed by the time she got there.

Between skating, watching, and cheering for Team USA, walking around town, playing cards with the team, getting “stuck” in the elevator (see picture below), and enjoying the absolutely delicious French food (two words: chocolate croissants), I’ve barely had time to take a breath! What a shame that I can’t seem to find the time to fit in my required summer reading (teehee)!
